What Is EZ-Pass Pennsylvania?

The Start of ORT on the PA Turnpike

Open Road Tolling (ORT) is the next step beyond All-Electronic Tolling. ORT removes the last toll booth structures. Drivers pass under open gantries at full highway speed. There are no lane splits, no barriers, and no slowing down. The PA Turnpike completed its switch to ORT on January 5, 2026. Every mainline toll plaza on the system has been removed. Drivers with EZPass PA transponders pay their tolls automatically as they pass under each gantry.
